A few days before Mexico celebrated Mother’s Day, Edgar Guzmán López, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s eldest son, was brutally killed by a barrage of bullets. It appears from all the evidence that he was killed to exact revenge. El Chapo is currently incarcerated in the United States for 30 years in addition to his life sentence.
The young man was influential within the Sinaloa Cartel, a notorious Mexican criminal organization known for drug trafficking and other crimes, as infobae revealed at the time. The Sinaloa Cartel is regarded as one of the most dangerous in the world.
It is said that Edgar Guzmán López’s funeral used every flower that was available on that particular day. However, what about the autopsy of Edgar Guzmán Lopez?
EDGAR GUIZMÁN LÑPEZ WAS A SHOT BLANK.
While taking a stroll in a Culiacán, Sinaloa shopping center, Edgar Guzmán Lopez was shot at close range by armed men who approached him. The young man is said to have been shot over 500 times, rendering his body essentially unrecognizable.
The attack also claimed the lives of Arturo Meza Cázares, the son of Blanca Margarita Cázares, and his cousin César Ariel Loera. The widow of El Chapo’s son, Frida Munoz Roman, declared at the time that her husband’s killers were Beltrán Leyva hitmen.
She recognized her husband’s corpse. A little girl, barely two years old, was left behind by him.
LÍPEZ’S MOTHER SAID THAT HIS IDENTITY AS THE SON OF A DRUGGLER WAS NOT HIS FAULT.
Additionally, according to Infobae, Griselda López Pérez, the mother of Edgar Guzmán López, stated of her son: “It’s not his fault being the son of El Chapo.”
She added that she had had enough of her kids being called drug dealers. In the mid-1980s, Joaquín Guzmán tied the knot with Griselda. Karla Pérez Rojo was her other name.
Few people recall that she was briefly detained in 2010—just a few years after her son’s murder—but that she was later freed.
