Planning a big and bustling business event can be nerve-racking, not least because you might feel the pressure to impress hundreds of people at once. This is especially the case if this is your first event ever. Although you might believe that you have over 2 hours to impress your guests and get them onside, you actually only have about five minutes. 

After these five minutes, you might find that the business professionals that you have invited become disinterested and start to drift away from your main event before it has even had a chance to start properly. Yes, you might be able to entice them back, but this is harder than peaking their interest the first time around. What you need to be doing is making a great first impression within seconds of them arriving, and this is how you can do that. 

Find the Perfect Venue 

In an ideal world, your guests will be in awe from the moment that they travel up your venue’s drive and will be desperate to have a peek at what is inside the building in which you are hosting your event. 

However, this means that you need to give a lot of thought to your venue, finding one that is spacious, welcoming, and contains a hint of glamor that can make your guests feel as if they are at a special occasion. 

This can also give them the image that your business is currently successful and that you can compete against others in your sector. The best venues get booked up far in advance, though. This means that you should look for wonderful event spaces both near you and further afield as soon as possible.

Greet Them at the Door 

You do not want your special guests to wander in with no idea what is happening or where they need to go. If this happens, you might find that they feel disorientated and unsettled and that they miss the best parts of your event. Worse than that, they could end up just going home. This means that you should greet them as soon as they appear at the door of your venue, providing them with a friendly and perhaps recognizable face that can make them feel welcome. It is also important to greet them at the door so that you can tick off each guest on your list and so that you know who is there. Not only is this important for health and safety, but it can also allow you to make connections after the event has come to an end. 

Give Time to Décor 

You might be in a hurry to get your event up and running after a chaotic day at work. However, rather than just plugging in your laptop and leaving it at that, you should give away some time to deck out the space and make it look fancy. Whether you decide to or just decorate with information about your company and your branding, this will allow your guests to know instantly why they are there, never forgetting the nature of the event or who the hosts are. This can also brighten the space and make it more appealing to the other business people who are there.
